Sombre Stories

I am quite disturbed with today's news in the paper. A three year old girl died when the tv set in her house tumbled and fell onto her. She was crushed to death. So many freak mishaps had happened for the past few days. Too much of sad stories in the paper.Yesterday it was reported that a 4 year old boy fell to death from his 8th storey apartment. A few children and a teacher died when the boat they used for training went crashing after a high tide. We can't take things for granted. Safety is very-very important. As parents, we must ensure our house is child friendly. Always keep an eye on the kids. Nobody would have thought a tv could tumble down and crash on the girl's head. Never ever leave the children unattended even for a few seconds. All those accidents could have been avoided if only we were a bit careful in our actions. If only there was someone with the girl supervising her while she was watching tv, she could have been alive today. If only the mother of the boy didn't leave him alone in the house to attend an interview, he would have been alive today. If only the school children and the teacher had worn the life jackets while training, they too would have been alive today. Parents and teachers play a pivotal role in in this. We must always ensure the safety of our children. It is a timely reminder for us . Never take safety for granted. This is the lesson I learnt today from the newspaper. In a way, it will be a boom for the plasma tv. After this, more people will change their tv set from the big bulky ones to the flat and slim plasma tvs. Reason...to avoid any mishaps. Now I have got a good reason to change my tv set.........:)
